Stefano Piunti didn't come to energy by chance, and he didn't come to it from a desk. He came to it from the attic of his own home, from a soldering iron bought with 15,000 lire from his father, from sixteen kilometers walked on foot.
He was a boy, but the passion was already there: understanding how things work, taking them apart, rebuilding them better.
After graduating from IPSIA as an electromechanical technician, he worked for a decade as a field repair technician for industrial automation.
This is where the kind of expertise is formed that you don't find in manuals: the kind of someone who can read a system that's down at three in the morning and know where to look for the problem.
Those ten years aren't a chapter of the past — they are the root of every choice made afterward.
From that foundation, STI S.r.l. is born, carried over time through distribution, automation, electrical panels, renewable energy, energy efficiency, and advanced repair.
The hardest skill to transfer is the ability to see the potential of a team before the team itself believes in it.

TEN YEARS AS A TECHNICIAN — ON THE MACHINE
Before the first company, the field. A decade as an independent industrial automation repair technician: wood, iron, extrusion furnaces, production lines, CNC machines. Installation, service, repair on real systems. The foundation of everything that comes next.
STI — DISTRIBUTION & TECHNOLOGICAL SYSTEMS
STI S.r.l. is founded in the field of design, implementation, and maintenance of technological systems, MV/LV substations, electrical panels, security, and data.
INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION
Design and installation of automation systems — PLC, inverters, touch screens, SCADA, KNX — in the wood, plastic, and food industries. The technical know-how that will distinguish STI for all the years to come is consolidated.
ELECTRICAL PANELS · SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC PARTNERSHIP
STI joins Schneider Electric's System Club circuit as a specialized panel builder, becoming a supplier to the Bologna technical hub. The electrical panels division for automation and distribution is born.
RENEWABLE ENERGY & PHOTOVOLTAICS
Opening of the Renewable Energy division. Design of a biaxial solar tracker with astronomical control: 1,800 units produced, still operational. A capacity for innovation born from within, applied on a real scale.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY
Complex energy audits, inverter retrofitting of panels, automation of production lines, SCADA systems, industrial LED lighting. Efficiency as a discipline and method, not as a product.
STI REPAIR — PHOTOVOLTAIC INVERTER REPAIR
STI S.r.l. specializes in the repair, regeneration, and maintenance of multi-brand photovoltaic inverters. An activity still active and growing today, which has produced unique expertise in power electronics and the life cycle of energy systems.
STILCA ENERGY — A NEW SPECIALIZATION, IN PARALLEL
STILCA Energy is born as an autonomous and parallel reality, with a precise focus: BESS energy storage systems for industrial and utility-scale applications. It is not an evolution of what was done before — it is a new direction, built on thirty years of experience but dedicated to a specific challenge: governing energy, not just producing it.
